KPD Seeks Man for Fatal Shooting of a Pregnant Woman

Sept. 8, 2024 12:15p

(WGTD)---A man who allegedly fatally shot a 22-year-old woman who was pregnant Friday afternoon in Kenosha was wanted on two sets of domestic violence charges.

Another warrant has been issued for 25-year-old Lawrence Franklin. His most recent court file lists a South Milwaukee address. But he's also spent time in Kenosha and Racine in between prison and juvenile detention stints.

The name of the woman who was shot has yet to be released. Her unborn child also died.

The woman was found shot in a car up against concrete pillar at Kenosha's elevated tracks late Friday afternoon.

Police announced on Saturday that they were looking for Franklin, whom they described as armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked to call police at 262-605-1234.

According to online court records, Franklin was charged in May of 2023 with domestic abuse, intimidating a victim, battery and contacting an abuse victim after an arrest. Franklin eventually posted a $1,000 bond. But during the pendency of that case, similar charges were filed about a year later in May of 2024. That's when Franklin started missing court dates. There's been an outstanding warrant for his arrest ever since.
