(WGTD)---According to a criminal complaint, 15-year-old Reed Gelinskey said he returned to his family's Franksville-area home after school on Tuesday, felt depressed and had an urge to kill his parents.
A few hours later, the teen purportedly used a dumbbell bar and a knife to launch a surprise, fatal attack on his mother. Her last words, according to the teen, were in the form of a question: "Why?" His one-word response: "Pain," so he said.
Gelinskey was in adult court Thursday to face a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide.
According to the criminal complaint, the boy said he was depressed and admitted to taking about nine anxiety pills that had been prescribed for his brother because he enjoys the high. He purportedly came up with the plan to kill his parents while watching a documentary on the Menendez brothers, two men who are imprisoned for killing their parents.
Gelinskey's father apparently wasn't home at the time of the attack.
Afterward, Gelinskey messaged a friend. Police responded and found the woman dead.
Suzanne Gelinskey was believed to be in her early 60s.
In court Thursday, a high bond was set and the court commissioner said he would allow Gelinskey's father's request to have contact with his son while in detention.
