(WGTD)---The 72-year-old man who was injured as the result of a police chase in Racine Saturday evening has died.
Daniel Brown of Racine passed away the following day, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the Racine County Sheriff's Office.
Brown's pickup was struck by a driver who'd been fleeing from Racine police. Just before the crash at Victory and Lathrop, 36-year-old Adonis Martin allegedly had blown a stop sign.
At the time of the crash, Martin, who has a lengthy criminal record, was wanted on warrants that included cutting off a monitoring bracelet.
Martin has yet to be charged in connection with Saturday's incident. He escaped injury and was immediately jailed.
The Racine County Sheriff's Office is in charge of the investigation.
The incident Saturday evening set off a barrage of social media comments between those calling for greater restraint by police in such pursuits and those defending the actions' of officers.
