(WGTD)----Both the Kenosha and Racine unified school districts see bright spots in their respective report cards that were released by the state Department of Public Instruction last week.
Kenosha Unified came in with a rating of 61.2—good enough to remain in the ‘meets expectations’ category. In a statement, Superintendent Jeff Weiss said the number reflects the effectiveness of the district’s ongoing efforts to support student success. The district, however, has a goal of increasing the percentage of students scoring either proficient or advanced in reading and math by 12%.
Racine Unified missed the ‘meets expectations’ category by just one-and-a-half points. RUSD Superintendent Soren Gajewski said this is the second year in a row that the district has improved its ranking. The 3-point-5 increase is the biggest increase among all of the state’s largest districts. Gajewski also notes that the district’s four-year graduation rate improved from 80.5 to 83.6, the highest it’s been in 15 years.
